Welcome to the official website of the Society of the Cross!
About Us: The Society of the Cross, (abbreviated S.C.) is a Christian
Society within the Church Universal. The Society of the Cross as a Christian Society is a dispersed community of men and women, clergy
and lay, seeking to live the “way of the cross” and working together for the Kingdom of God. Our works are focused mainly on the areas
of missions, evangelism, discipleship and teaching, as well as ministry to the poor, needy and ill.
Membership: The Society
of the Cross is unique in that it is a Christian Society that has members from several different Christian traditions and in that
we do have vows and that those who take vows are to be considered Professed Members of the Society of the Cross with the right to
use the abbreviation of S.C. at the end of their legal name.
Many become Associate Members just for further opportunities to
fellowship and worship with other Christians, for edification, and for mutual support and prayer in living the Christian life.
TheSociety of the Cross is not a substitution for being a member of a local church, we expect all of our Professed Members and Associate
Members to be a part of a local body of Christians, and to be working within that local body to further the Kingdom of God by the
proclaiming of the Gospel and the making of disciples. This is in keeping with our emphasis on missions, evangelism, discipleship
and teaching, as well as ministry to the poor, needy and ill.
Ordination: The Society of the Cross is also an ordaining ministry,
which means we can offer Ordination to our Professed Members who have a calling to be Independent Catholic Clergy. Our clergy are
validly and legally ordained bishops, priests, and deacons in apostolic succession.
