And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Ordination in the Society of the Cross

The Society of the Cross does offer ordination to those from within its Professed Membership who are called to the ministry as Independent Catholic Clergy and has been a Professed Member of the Society of the Cross for at least six months. The calling to ordained ministry is a very serious matter and not to be taken lightly. Those who apply to be ordained will go through a process of discernment and coursework in preparation to be ordained.

Application for ordination in no way implies that you will be ordained, application is only the first step. Our clergy are validly and legally ordained bishops, priests, and deacons in apostolic succession.

The Society of the Cross clergy are considered Independent Catholic Clergy and minister to all different kinds of people. Therefore, if you obtain ordination in the Society of the Cross, you will have a ministry that reaches far and wide in the faith.

If there is a Regional Bishop in your area, he will most likely be available to perform your ordination.

The bishop who ordained and consecrated me is recognized as an Independent Catholic bishop in Apostolic Succession; therefore, if you are ordained by me with the laying on of hands and prayer within a Eucharistic setting, you would be recognized by many Catholics and Anglicans as also being in this Apostolic Succession, and you would be able to minister to those who hold these beliefs.

The first step in the ordination process for our Professed Members who seek to be ordained is the submission of an Ordination Questionnaire. They will be required to also take the Harvestime International Network Curriculum. This may be done by the individual taking the courses as offered by Ames International School of Ministry, the curriculum is offered free or on a low cost college credit basis. For further information on the courses see our page Ordination Coursework.

This sums up the ordination process in the Society of the Cross. So, now, if you're ready to apply for and begin the process of discerning your call to the ministry in the Society of the Cross, please download the Ordination Questionnaire, print it out, answer all questions and have it notarized or witnessed and mail it to the following address:
